campus.kn

The online magazine of the University of Konstanz

Digital, interactive, cross-media – since the winter semester 2018/2019, a new medium complements the previous formats of science communication at the University of Konstanz.

campus.kn at a glance

The digital magazine campus.kn offers a (tangible) insight into research as well as studies, teaching and campus life at the University of Konstanz.

Initial Situation

For university communication and marketing purposes, the University of Konstanz planned to set up a digital magazine. The aim was to distribute content and, above all, stories about the university in a modern, visually appealing and, above all, interactive way and thus generating a wide reach.

The Solution

Based on PIIPE Magazine, an online presence for the University of Konstanz was created around the categories “Science”, “Studies”, “University Life” and “Word Exchange”. Older articles are archived in the category “Collection”.

The look & feel is based on the university’s design concept. Thus, not only color schemes and typographies are implemented in the magazine, but also design elements such as pattern palettes, markings, underlining or frames.

A special feature in terms of content is the new format of a “long page” that was developed for campus.kn. The idea is that users will always find a current, so-called “keyhole article” on the homepage. There is a story behind it. These have no subpages, but present all content on a single page – clearly arranged and divided into individual sections. The sections consist of multimedia content such as texts, images, image galleries, videos, quotes or auditory elements. Design elements such as the background colors of the sections can be freely selected. The advantage: Longpages communicate in a clearly structured, fast and focused way – and have a real entertainment value!
