CELM

Certified European eLearning Manager

The use of modern training technologies is increasingly becoming a competitive advantage for companies. With the Certified European E-Learning Manager (CELM) certificate, responsible persons have the decisive know-how to successfully implement e-learning projects and sustainably integrate them into processes.

CELM at a glance

The e-learning manager course is conducted as blended learning, i.e. a combination of classroom days, online trainings and live online seminars. Since the end of 2018, the online trainings have been successfully carried out on the PIIPE Learning platform.

Initial Situation

CELM’s former online system was based on severely outdated technology, was not mobile-enabled and the content was one-sided and rigid. The mission: new technology, new concept, new design and new interactive features!

The Solution

The online training based on PIIPE contains seven modular units with lots of interactive content, expert videos, exercises and extensive download material. In addition to the modules, another unit offers content on the basics and terminology of e-learning as well as current trends.

The course offers a systematic way to acquire a solid knowledge of e-learning project management. Thus, one is not only optimally prepared for the exam, but also receives a structured approach for e-learning projects in practice.

After the attendance day at the beginning of the course, participants receive access to an online learning environment. The online training is activated for three months and learners can access the learning content at any time, from anywhere and as often as they want.

At the end of the training, participants have to take a certificate exam in the learning platform, which has been implemented using PIIPE Learning’s test module. There are two hours to answer 100 questions. Each question can only be answered once and learners cannot click back or put a question on hold.

The certificate course and the corresponding basic material were designed in two EU projects by leading experts from nine European countries. The projects were supervised by the National Agency in Liechtenstein. The course is based on the contents of the EU project smectra.net, which was awarded the Quality Award in Bronze by the European Commission in 2009.

The course is offered by the Institute for Digital Learning & Leadership of Steinbeis+Akademie, a company of Steinbeis University Holding, and has been certified by Steinbeis+Akademie since 2019 under the name “European E-Learning Manager”. In addition to the CELM certificate, they receive the “Diploma of Basic Studies (DBS)” degree from Steinbeis+Akademie. Sünne Eichler heads the Institute for Digital Learning & Leadership.
