The Festo Press Portal

The goal: A global, multilingual, modern press communication platform for Festo headquarters and all national companies with press releases, press kits, media and videos.

The Festo Press Portal at a glance

Festo has become a long-standing customer for NEOCOSMO. In addition to the Festo “People.Net”, the employee magazine, the “WeNet” as an internal, digital workplace, we faced the challenge in 2019 to develop the worldwide Festo press portal based on our platform PIIPE and to give the portal a relaunch.

Initial Situation

The press portal, which was outdated at the time, was to be replaced by a clearly structured, snazzier press portal with additional, new functions. In addition, a uniform solution for Festo was required. The main requirements were that journalists should be able to find and download press materials from 61 countries in 16 different languages quickly and easily. The goal was a design that corresponds to Festo’s corporate design. At the same time, administration was to be intuitive and uncomplicated.

The Solution

The new press portal was realized on the basis of our product PIIPE and the configuration “Digital Magazine”. The portal can be used in 16 languages. It is possible to choose between global and local content: For local content, 61 countries are available for selection.

The portal’s home page initially provides an overview of any content under various headings. There is not only a subdivision into sections, but also into different content types, such as press releases, press kits and media. In addition, press materials can be found quickly and easily using the search function. It is based on keywords as well as full text. Within the advanced search, search filters such as category, industry, format and year can also be selected. The results are displayed clustered according to format and sorted within a cluster according to topicality. Press content can be conveniently downloaded with just one click. In the case of press images, journalists are able to select them as web or as a print format. The design was individually adapted to Festo’s CI specifications and other wishes. A modern, clean look was chosen. Thanks to the WYSIWYG approach (What You See Is What You Get), the editorial team was quickly trained in the intuitive backend. With the help of online training, Festo employees involved in editing the portal were trained all over the world. Local press releases can thus be maintained decentrally by the national companies.
